What Is Hot Shots?
Hot Shots is endorsed by the International Tennis Federation [ITF] as world best practice for kids aged 3 to 12 years. Hot Shots coaching is conducted all week days and all day Saturday. There are four stages of Hot Shots: Launch Pad, Red, Orange and Green ball and within each stage we offer three levels: beginning, developing and competent. As pupils grow and progress the court, balls and skills taught are scaled to the age and size of the pupil. Futures Tennis also use our own unique systems learnt from over 40 years of experience including: blended coaching, detailed lessons plans and half court challenges. In 2011 Futures won Most Outstanding Hots Shots Academy - Australian Tennis Awards. We continue to be National leader and Hot Shot specialists developing grassroots tennis. Our programs include having aligned coaching & competition Hot Shots pathways to make the game easier and more fun to play.
LAUNCH PAD Ages 3-6
The Launch Pad program starts the Hot Shots journey in a fun and dynamic environment. Our low pupil per class ratio guarantees learning. Classes run for either 30 or 45min. Modifications are a small 19 inch racquet, 75% low compression ball, a 1/4 court and mini net which scales the equipment to the size of the child. This program has three levels. The Beginner program pupils learn FMS transferable to tennis: tracking, movement, balance etc. The Developing program pupils learn a variety of basic strokes e.g. forehand, backhand, f/volley. The Competent program pupils learn to do a sequence of coach fed shots and an under arm serve before graduating to Red Ball.

Modifications are a 75% low compression red ball using two 1/4 court. Pupils learn to become independent players who can "serve, rally and score" using our Play Based Approach methodology. Having a scaled learning environment assists with both explicit and implicit learning. Over 70% of all orange ball kids learn through incidental learning. Our unique blended court class set up maximises learning by offering skills coaching on one half court with the coach whilst on the other half court we set tasks [challenges] which motivate pupils to learn in pairs. Pupils are at an age and cognitive levels where technical development is now the highest priority.
